<p>To start, you need some basic ingredients, most of which can be found in your pantry. You will need four ounces of all purpose flour and 4 ounces of whole wheat flour. You will need one tablespoon of sugar and two tablespoons of baking powder. You will need a pinch of salt, three eggs and one and a half cups of milk. Finally, you will need some vegetable oil and a waffle iron.</p>
<p>There are just a few steps to make waffles. Before doing anything, be sure to turn on the waffle iron so that is it nice and hot when the mixing is all done. This will save time later. Begin by mixing all of the dry ingredients, both types of flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, together in one bowl.</p>
<p>Next, take all of the wet ingredients, the eggs, milk and oil, and mix those together in a separate bowl. It will take a bit of mixing but keeping mixing until the milk and eggs are mixed together well.</p>
<p>Pour the wet mixture and the dry mixture together in the same bowl. Mix these together until no more lumps are present. If there are any additional items that you would like to add to your waffles, add them now. These could be just about anything such as chocolate chips, fruit or cinnamon. Mix again until the batter is smooth.</p>
<p>Pour one half cup of batter into the preheated waffle iron. Close the top and check every minute or so. When the waffle is a nice shade of brown, the waffle is done and ready to be eaten. This recipe will make eight or nine waffles. The recipe can be doubled or tripled as needed.</p>

Meats were fresh, produce was fresh, eggs and milk were fresh. Today, even though we still buy fresh foods, our freezers are much larger but they are full of frozen prepackaged dinners, frozen juice, ice cream, frozen burgers and hot dogs, and all sorts of frozen snack foods for the kids after school.</p>
<p>Decades ago even schools made kids eat healthier. There wasn&#8217;t much of a choice, actually. They got a hot meal, milk, and maybe dessert. No cokes, no vending machines with chips and cookies, no coffee or frapaccuinos, and no energy drinks loaded with sugar and caffeine. Kids got a balanced meal &#8211; in accordance with the food pyramid knowledge of the day.<br />

Today, many kids are even allowed to leave the building for lunch and they head to the nearest fast food joint to load up on junk that would make a healthy rat sick! However, some of these kids believe they are eating healthy and there&#8217;s no problem, or they believe that because they are thin, they can eat whatever they want. They believe being fat is the true indicator eating a bad diet.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s a difference between learning how to eat healthy and trying to lose weight. Sort of. Many people just aren&#8217;t fat. Actually, they&#8217;re pretty thin! In spite of eating fried foods, burgers, butter soaked vegetables, and bacon every day with breakfast, some are lucky enough to tip the scales at below average weights.</p>
<p>Some people think that daily salads or even a baked potato is a healthy, safe part of a meal. And they&#8217;re right &#8211; until they start adding toppings that have more calories and fat than lasagna and garlic bread! Having a salad is an excellent choice as long as you aren&#8217;t pouring on a cup of high fat dressing, and a baked potato is loaded with vitamins and minerals &#8211; just don&#8217;t load it with sour cream and butter!<br />

Too often people, especially thin people, refuse to pay much attention to their poor diets and food intake until it&#8217;s too late. As long as they look good, they are sure they are healthy. They feel good, they look good, so they figure everything is good.</p>
